The only thing better than a snail trail pattern… is a 60° triangle snail trail pattern!  So when Jaybird came out with one called Trail Mix, I bought the pattern right away.  It took me a while to get around to actually making it, but as usual I loved her pattern and the process.

I ended up modifying it a bit to fit my minky backing, which was too narrow for the lap size.  But having worked with so many of her patterns, it was easy enough to do.  My favorite part is that you really only have to make one block.  That one block turned three different ways is what really makes the quilt.

I also made a pillow (of course I did) out of the leftovers.  I liked doing the Candy Dish pillow pattern previously so I used it again for the pillow front, and just pieced leftover triangles on the back. I quilted both sides myself and tried something a tiny bit more creative than just parallel lines.

Karen and and I chose the pantograph “Bumpity” and I think it compliments the fun tone of the quilt.  I have another set of fabrics (green batiks) all set aside to do this pattern again because it was so much fun!
